Why video is King

Okay, okay… maybe I’m exaggerating a bit.

Sorry, honestly, the title is a little bit of clickbait. I think each type of content has its own complexity, power, and potential. So let’s scratch that:

Why video is King.

Why I think video is King.

Ahh… much better.

So. There are several reasons why video, as a type of content, is my favorite.

1.- It’s a mixture of everything.

First of all, this is the place where you can incorporate every field.

I believe a good director needs to understand sooo much. A genuine director understands writing, needs to know about music, rhythm, colors, photography, lighting, design, aesthetics, human psychology, the list goes on and on.

Pretty much the only thing missing is the smell and taste, and I can’t wait to see the day when we can incorporate those into a movie. Can you imagine the level of involvement with the story?

2.- It’s the epitome of storytelling.

By being the mixture of everything, it’s literally as far as art has evolved.

3.- Video doesn’t tell you. It brings you there.

I’ve never agreed with that argument that pretentious bookworms love repeating “books are better than movies because movies leave no space for imagination.” I think this couldn’t be more wrong; videos allow you to immerse yourself in a different world. They allow you to picture yourself living as someone who is also part of the story. Many times, we even feel in the main character’s shoes. There’s a beautiful interaction between what the editor gives you and what you, as the audience, expect or wish will happen.
